Aquamarina Hotel Greece

Hotels / August 22, 2019

With a sandy beach across the road, and the pretty old town within touching distance, the Aqua Marina is a great Rethymnon base.

This spearmint-coloured hotel is just across the road from a palm-studded stretch of golden sand, so views of the Cretan Sea are part of the deal. You can walk to Rethymnon’s Venetian harbour in 10 minutes.

Bedrooms are simple, with pine-wood furniture and balconies facing the sea. Facilities are kept on the basic side, as well. Instead, the focus is on a decent place to lay your head after exploring historical Rethymnon.

Almost very good

We got the apartment 201 while staying in Rethymno for a week in June 2017. Positive things: - big light coloured family apartments, - All necessary equipment, - nice balcony with extra safety for a kid (net), - fabulous view to the sea, very good situated ( near small markets, tavernas and the beach), - not far from the old town. Negative things: - the biggest minus as i understood of particularly this apartment is an awful smell in the bathroom ( housekeeper tried to clean it but the smell ( not so strong) but still left) - veeeeery poor internet - if you decide to put a tv in the apartment than it would be more than appreciate to have not only greek channels:) Administrator was very helpful and friendly, so I really enjoyed the communication with her. All her advices were very useful. Thank you very much for you support!:)

You get what you pay for

The apartments are basic. The balconies are really nice, facing the sea and it's a short walk to the beautiful old town. But a few things went wrong for us. Elina and the staff are very nice but there were problems. My husband was locked in the bathroom our first night, Elina came late at night to help get him out but the door and knob are old and need to be fixed. They were not fixed in our three nights and so we could not ever close the bathroom door. The first morning there was no hot water. It was fixed by afternoon but that was another issue for half the day. The wifi is very weak. And while they advertise laundry services in the room (I have a picture), when I inquired I was told there was a laundry shop 2 streets away. This wouldn't be a problem for most people but we've been traveling for months and was an inconvenience for us. When you plug in your charger you can hear the electricity in the wall.
